Greetings from the Platte City Area Chamber of Commerce! Welcome to our web site!

Exciting changes are taking place in Platte City and the surrounding community. The Platte County North Community Center, managed by the YMCA of Greater Kansas City, opened its doors in November 2004. It offers an indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, track and fitness center.

Platte Ridge Park, opened fall 2005, is a 210-acre park on 371 Hwy just north of Platte City. Amenities include four new baseball/softball fields with lighting and fencing, soccer fields, kids' playground, concession/restroom facility, shelter house, kids' fishing pond, a 5k cross country trail and hiking trails. The park's rolling acres provide a beautiful view of Platte City.

The new Prairie Creek Greenway is a 120 acre passive recreational park located south of Platte City off of N. Hwy. Paved trails totaling 3.8 miles are open with access off of Sycamore Street in the Timber Park subdivision and off N. Hwy south of Seven Bridges on the east side of N Hwy.

A new 16,000 sq. ft. Mid-Continent Public Library opened in December 2006. It is located at the corner of Prairie View Road and Running Horse Terr. Amenities include wireless internet, a drive thru lane, drop box, program room and 10-22 foot ceilings.

Nine housing subdivisions are currently under construction. Summit Way, Hills of Oakmont, Lakes of Oakmont, New Bedford Falls, Running Horse, Fox Creek, Seven Bridges, Coppper Ridge and Brookfield are located to the south and west of Platte City city limits, along Running Horse Road, 136th St. or N Highway. Click on “What’s New” to view additional information on current developments.

The prominent message of this site is GROWTH! Growth brings new people, new goods and services to the area and new revenue to existing businesses! The Chamber is working to market the exciting changes taking place to those outside our community.
